Optimal Design of Damped Structure with Inerter System Based on Modified Harmony Search Algorithm

An inerter system can amplify the deformation of its internal energy dissipation device, thereby improving efficiency and shock absorption. This is so-called damping enhancement mechanism, one key mechanisms system. Although theoretical framework for systems has been established, implementation this principle design an requires solving a complicated constrained optimization problem, which not easy to be figured out using traditional approaches. To obtain valid results through lucid robust method, it proposed optimize parameters metaheuristic algorithm named harmony search in order maximize degree with satisfaction structural performance. First, closed-form seismic response solutions single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structure are derived based on theory random vibration. Then, mathematical expression problem established. Due inefficiency original solve modified by introducing new generating method adaptive strategy parameter adjustment. The compiled optimal verified designing It found that number iterations time consumption until convergence required reduced about 20%∼90% compared algorithm, confirms effectiveness algorithm. dynamic analyses show have achieved preset performance demands under different cases characteristic fully utilized.
